Allergy Testing

I finally took B into the doctor to get allergy testing done. I was told by a different doctor when she was 2 years old that it would be a good idea to get her tested later on, but she felt that 2 was too young and would be too traumatic for her at that age. I decided to wait...and wait.....until now. She's 9 years old now, and through trial and error, found out she is allergic to nuts, (my poor mother in law had to find that one out) dogs, and cats. I figured that was it. Oh, and last week we also had R tested. (he's 2...don't ask me why we decided to do that to him also, but we did) G tells me the testing is a lot better than it was 35+ years ago, and I believe him. Most things are better than they were that long ago. Anyway, There are up to 8 or so tests they can do in each arm. B went first, which was good. Whenever we set foot into the doctor, Ryan starts screaming and throwing a fit just when they try and weigh him. So they do the tests, then she waits 20 minutes, then they "read" the tests. (Measure the reactions) She was sitting there maybe 5 minutes before ALL BUT 2 or 3 tests reacted positive! So added to what she is already allergic to is corn, wheat, all types of trees, PEANUTS (she has been eating pb for years no problem!) and soy.....(she had soy formula as a baby) Poor girl!! Next, comes R. He gets his arms up there, and we basically had to hold them down. He is allergic to peanuts and eggs, (which we already knew) and kitties and doggies..... :( He LOVES dogs. We can never have a pet. I just have to convince G that getting one anyway is NOT a good idea! It was a very long day, but I am glad we were able to get that done. The highlight of the day was after the testing was done. R was running around the waiting area, and everytime the nurse said his name, he would hide his arms behind his back! We all got a kick out of that!!
